you're a virgin who can't drive

i can't believe it's been nearly three years since i've posted to this blog! i've been missing blogging so much lately and since my friends and i were planning a night out for halloween, i figured it'd be the perfect opportunity to take photos and start blogging again! my roommate cait and i went as cher and dionne from clueless. it was one of the most fun costumes to hunt for and everything i bought, i ended up loving. the 90s are alive and well in my heart and closet.

my best friend michael came into the city to hang out and be ARTPOP.

then we went to a few bars and met crazy eyes! (and santa?)

cat lady!

RED!

i really love this dress. i originally only purchased it for halloween, but now i'm sold. it's very true to size and something i think could work in day to day. i rushed to target last minute to find a few basic pieces to add to the costume and my roommate made me this wonderful hat. i think we did okay. so much fun! did anyone dress up for halloween yet?

ps - i've gone from justwearyou to kayla nykol (my first and middle name) in an effort to be less restricted to blogging about fashion.

all my life i've been good, but now...

random outfit from this week. this dress was originally my flapper halloween costume, but i've worn it a few times as a regular dress. the cardigan was originally a large shirt that i ripped down the middle so it would fit. also, these h&m wedges can get it! i love them.

i got a package today!

i recently shopped the asos mid-season sale (hope you all did too!) and wanted to share a little bit about my items. my first package came today and it was perfect and bad all at once.

i was obsessed with this as soon as i saw it. i had so many plans and i knew it would fit perfectly into my wardrobe. when my asos package finally came today, i threw this on first. two things i noticed immediately: even though i sized down from a 22 to a 20, this was still so baggy. i know this dress is supposed to be "oversized" (that's one of the things i love about it) but it's oversized to the point that it's hanging off of me...bad look. the second thing was the material and look (on me) reminded me so much of a graduation gown. it was longer than pictured in the photo and it wasn't working. i'm so bummed that i have to return this.

when i saw that this was on sale for 30 dollars, i knew i had to have it. again, i sized down from 22 to 20 and bought it! i think this item is currently out of stock at asos, but if it isn't...buy it! it's perfect. it fits really nicely and it's warm and cozy and just the way i pictured it in my head.

i purchased some other things i'm still waiting for (including the peter pan collar dress in black)  and i really hope they don't disappoint. what do you guys think of the new items asos posted?

ps - did you hear the news about H&M? thanks for the details lauren!

i know a place where the dead come to life.

thrifted this bag dress that seems to always be wrinkly, even when i iron it over and over...still love it. today i had brunch and lots of pomegranate sangria at taste on melrose. definitely recommend. after we popped into revolve clothing and then a halloween place around the corner...i finally found my costume. the party starts tomorrow. anyone in LA going to the carnival in west hollywood on sunday?

thrifted bag dress, asos curve waterfall cardigan, 8020 boots, kittinhawk feather earrings via gather.

hello from LA.

i've been in LA since wednesday night (not for fffweek, although i am debating on whether to attend as i type this) and it's been so fun and so busy already. yesterday, i went shopping downtown, searched for a halloween costume (with no luck) and went to the roger room, a bar with a speakeasy vibe in west hollywood.

gather located in downtown LA. 7 weeks old and already amazing.

the store had local LA designers, vintage furniture and great jewelry finds.

i picked up the black feather earrings.

favorite boots of all time. they are literally falling apart, but i can't give up on them.

photos taken in the bathroom of the roger room after too many whiskey/gingers...i had to share.

new season, new things.

i know it's been months since i've blogged, but not for lack of wanting to keep this blog alive. it just took some reminding that what i'm doing isn't pointless. add in all the moving, traveling and schoolwork and i've been as busy as ever. forgive me.

fall is of course my favorite season. i picked up this pumpkin nail polish in honor of the season and i'm not taking it off anytime soon. i love how subtle it is. it's a nice change from the white nail polish i wore all summer.

the asos sale definitely did some damage to my bank account. i adore these.

expect an outfit post with this asos dress soon. it's perfect.

finally, my mac villains collection favorite. black, purple and silver? all good.

also a little in love with eminem's recovery and vanilla vodka + ginger. what are your favorites of the season?
